Mobile Learning and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): Gaining better use from familiar technologies and those already owned by students

Do you teach or manage degree programmes where the students are all on their iPads or Smartphones? Do you feel bewildered or excited by the vast array of mobile technologies on offer?
‘Mobile Learning and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD): Gaining better use from familiar technologies and those already owned by students’ is a one-day workshop as part of the successful Changing the Learning Landscape (CLL) programme. The event workshop will introduce the role that mobile learning can play in enhancing the student and teacher experience.
Through a series of presentations, activities and discussions, led by expert speakers, you will be introduced to new mobile learning approaches and get hands-on experience in how to use the latest technologies in your subject area.
Topics will include:
- BYOD: the Easyjet of mobile learning?
- Considering the security issues around students’ use of mobile technologies.
The speakers at this event are Tim Cappelli, Senior Project Manager at Manchester Medical School and Prof. Steven Furnell, Head of the Centre for Security, Communications & Network Research at Plymouth University.

Changing the Learning Landscape (CLL) is a HEFCE-funded programme supporting and encouraging higher and further education institutions to make a step change in how they adopt effective and strategic uses of online technology in teaching and learning.
The programme is a unique partnership between the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, JISC, the National Union of Students, the Association for Learning Technology and the Higher Education Academy (HEA).
